crisis helpline 763 591 0100

It's not easy to ask for help...but when you do, we'll be there.

Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery has a critical role in supporting families in our community and we are pleased to announce that we have resumed our overnight care for children.

Extensive safety protocols and staff training have been put in place. These protocols are informed by the most up-to-date guidance from both the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) with a priority focus on Child Care Centers, Congregate Living Facilities and Business Guidelines as well as direct consultation from DHS (Department of Human Services) and MDH.

The safety of our children, families, volunteers, and staff is extremely important. In light of the current pandemic, our staff are following the revised care protocols in order to provide an environment that is as safe and healthy as possible.

Please know, we are committed to our community and our role in partnering with families.  If you are interested in more information about how our services have been revised, please call our 24 hour crisis line at 763-591-0100.

Talking to Kids About the Coronavirus

The process.

Call us, and we’ll work together to find you the support you need. Our services include crisis de-escalation, resources and referrals, short term overnight care for children ages birth – six, and home visiting. If you decide to bring your child to stay with us, please know:

  • We’ll listen so we understand how to best care for your child
  • We’ll help find the best way to get you and your family to the Nursery
  • All you need to bring is proof of residence in Hennepin County and any prescription medications your child needs. We’ll take care of the rest.
  • You are welcome to call and talk with your child during their stay at the Nursery

All services provided by the Nursery are confidential and voluntary, meaning you decide if we’re the right fit for you. We will not call Child Protective Services if you opt to use the Nursery, however, please know that Nursery staff are mandated reporters and must call Child Protective Services if they suspect child abuse or neglect.

“I was calling for four days straight, and I had someone to talk to every one of those days. I was so stressed, and the lady on the phone really helped me.” Terri, single mom of three children
