Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery is sustained by its amazing volunteers! Last year individuals donated over 400 hours of volunteer time PER WEEK, supporting the Crisis Nursery's various programs. Thank you!

Here are the volunteer opportunities at Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery:

Enrichment Activity:  1-3 volunteers (maximum of 3) can conduct an enrichment activity for the children at the Crisis Nursery—arts and crafts, sports, games, sing along, story time, or a combination of activities. Volunteers must be 12 or older. Volunteers under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult age 21 or older.
Time Commitment:  Approximately 1.5 hours at the Nursery plus activity planning

Creative Snack For Kids:  A group of 4-6 volunteers (maximum of 6) purchase groceries, prepare on site and serve a snack to the children at the Crisis Nursery.  Creativity in developing your snack is especially welcome.  Snacks are served at 10am, 3pm, and 7pm. Volunteers must be 12 or older. Volunteers under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult age 21 or older.
Time Commitment:  Approximately 1.5 hours at the Nursery plus meal planning and shopping

Cook For Kids Meals:  A group of 4-6 (maximum of 6) volunteers purchase groceries, cook on site and serve breakfast, lunch, or dinner to the children at the Crisis Nursery.  Meals are served at 8am, 12pm, and 5pm. Volunteers must be 12 or older. Volunteers under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult age 21 or older.
Time Commitment:  1.5 hours prep (including shopping) and 2 hours at the Nursery

Child Care: Individuals assist our professional child care staff with direct care for the children that stay at the Crisis Nursery. Child care volunteers are required to complete an application, sit for an interview, submit to a background check, and participate in orientation and training before starting. Volunteers must be 12 or older. Volunteers under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult age 21 or older acting as their supervisor.
Time Commitment: 3-4 hours, every other week for a minimum of 6 months
Availability: Due to an enormous interest in this program, we have filled child care volunteer trainings until fall. However, we are still accepting applications and will begin reviewing them again in late July and early August. We appreciate your patience at this time.
