Volunteer

Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery is sustained by its amazing volunteers! Last year individuals donated over 400 hours of volunteer time PER WEEK, supporting the Crisis Nursery's various programs. Thank you!

Here are the volunteer opportunities at Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery:

Short on time? Here's an option for you: Cook For Kids Meal Sponsorship

Here’s how it works: Schedule to cook a meal once a month for $1,200.00 ($100 per meal), and we will buy the food and provide the recipe onsite. All you need to do is arrive at the scheduled time, prepare the meal, serve it to the kiddos, sit and eat with them, and clean up. No meal planning or shopping involved!

This opportunity can start at any time of the year. However, we ask your team commits to 12 meals per sponsorship. Please contact Abbie Hugunin at 612-767-8470 or ahugunin@crisisnursery.org if you are interested.

Cook With Keith

Are you interested in signing up for a meal but feel a little overwhelmed, not knowing what to expect? This option is for you! Shadow our onsite pro, Food Services Coordinator, Keith Johnson, your first time. We offer three meals a month for individuals to sign up to learn the ropes from Keith. This is also an option for someone who would like to participate but may not be able to afford to do it with their own group.

Look for the "Cook With Keith" meal times on our availability calendar. To sign up, fill out an application, write “Cook with Keith” after Team Name, and choose an available date. This program fills up on a first come first serve basis.

Enrichment Activity
Individual or Group Opportunity

1-3 volunteers (maximum of 3) will provide enrichment activities for the children at the Crisis Nursery. The activities should be designed to enrich each child's experience and creativity and to reduce stress. Activities can include games, sports, arts and crafts, music, creative movement, puppetry, dance, etc. We strongly suggest a combination of activities. We have supplies and suggestions on site.

Large muscle movement activities are encouraged to help the children at the Nursery, who have been exposed to chronic stress, release tension and to promote positive social interactions.

Volunteers must be 12 or older. Volunteers under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult age 21 or older. Time Commitment: Approximately 1.5 hours at the Nursery plus activity planning.
