Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery is sustained by its amazing volunteers! Last year individuals donated over 360 hours of volunteer time PER WEEK, supporting the Crisis Nursery's various programs. Thank you!
Here are the volunteer opportunities available at the Crisis Nursery:
Enrichment Activity: 1-3 volunteers can conduct an enrichment activity for the children at the Crisis Nursery—sports or other games, an art project, sing along, story time or a combination of activities. Volunteers must be 12 or older. Volunteers under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult age 21 or older.
Time Commitment: 1.5 hours prep time and 2 hours at the Crisis Nursery.

Creative Snack For Kids: A group of 4-6 volunteers purchase groceries, prepare on site and serve a snack to the children at the Crisis Nursery. Creativity in developing your snack is especially welcome. Snacks are served at 10 a.m., 3 and 7 p.m. Volunteers must be 12 or older. Volunteers under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult age 21 or older.
Time Commitment: 1 hour shop/prep time and 1 hour at the Crisis Nursery.

Cook For Kids Meals: A group of 4-6 volunteers purchase groceries, cook on site and serve breakfast, lunch or dinner to the children at the Crisis Nursery. Meals are served at 8 a.m., 12 noon and 5 p.m. Volunteers must be 12 or older. Volunteers under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult age 21 or older.
Time Commitment: 1 hour shop/prep time and 2 hours at the Crisis Nursery.

Childcare: Individuals assist our professional childcare staff with direct care for the children that stay at the Crisis Nursery. Volunteers must commit to a 3-4 hour shift every other week for at least 6 months (our longest tenured volunteer has been with us for over 21 years!). Childcare volunteers are required to complete an application, sit for an interview, submit to a background check, and participate in a 4 hours training before starting. Childcare volunteers must be 16 or older.
Time Commitment: 3-4 hours per week every other week for a minimum of six months.
